Imagine if you will that you had two children. They were both hungry and unwell and in need of medical attention. The only help available is a food centre 20km away. With no other options available you set off on foot in the blistering heat along a dirt track with hope in your heart and very little else to cling on to.
Half way into your journey, it is clear that one of your children is too weak to continue. You have to make a decision. You can leave that child and continue with your journey knowing you can at least save one of your children, or you can stay with the weaker child knowing that it means the certain death of all of you.
It's a decision no mother should ever have to make. Heart breaking, harrowing and the sort of decisions mothers in the horn of Africa are having to make because famine has taken over their lives and they are literally starving.
This is a pack of peanut paste used in the treatment of childhood malnutrition.
As part of UNICEF’s inspired Christmas gift range you can provide one malnourished child with a month’s supply of peanut paste that will bring back to a healthy weight for just £23.50.
That’s just £23.50 to help save a child’s life.
Imagine that this Christmas.
