There’s something a little sad and unloved about this football.
It’s been sitting there in our garden for over six months. We’ve cut the lawn and prepared the garden for winter but the ball has just been left there.
It hasn’t been played with for a while and when the weather picks up and we are spending more time outside, we’ll probably throw it away and replace it with a brand new one, like this one:
But there’s a huge difference here between these two footballs.
In our case it’s something we can throw away and easily replace. Yet for children around the world in schools, refugee camps or in a village square, a game of football can bring children and communities together to have fun and forget the worries they have.
It might look like just a football, but it’s so much more.
Thanks to UNICEF you can give the gift of a football and a pump this Christmas for just £20 and you’ll be providing some of the most deprived children of the world with an opportunity to play together and have fun.
UNICEF inspired gifts are not virtual gifts, they are very real, life-saving and life-changing items that UNICEF supply to children and communities throughout the world, right through the year. Once you’ve chosen a gift you can either choose a gift card or eGreeting to send to your friends.

You can also try out UNICEF's new Facebook app. Facebook users can buy one of three Inspired Gifts and then send crackers to friends – adding a party hat and joke - to make their cracker personal.
