It's so fitting for me to read this today. I went to a new park with my baby this morning and there was an outdoor gym there. No one was using it, the entire park was deserted, but if I lived nearer I'd definitely give it a go. Looks like fun - a lot more fun than jogging round the park anyway.

Oh I agree Molly. Anything has to be better than jogging around the local park. These things are a lot more fun. You hardly even realise you are exercising. Sounds like more and more of these gyms are cropping up.

Midlife Singlemum

We have them here - in red. That's all I know about them :~)

I've seen one of these before, on a trip to Dorset - took me by suprise too but it was very cool!

Hot Cross Mum

There is something like this in one of the parks in Dublin and it's hugely popular. It's kind of set into a wooded area so is quite subtle - kids and parents are always using the equipment. I think generally they're a great idea (just don't expect me to don the lycra gear and really go for it!)

Metropolitan Mum

In Germany and Austria, in about every park and on every forest path I can think of, there's something like this (in a slightly more subtle colour though). I think it's great. Like a playground for big ones.

Rosie Scribble

Red's an interesting choice of colour. Must be nice to enjoy them in a hot climate. We get far more rain that you over here!

Rosie Scribble

We've tried them and they are great fun. They seem to be taking off across the UK!

Rosie Scribble

I think they are a really good idea, especially when gyms are so expensive these days and many of us could do with the extra exercise. Donning the lyrca gear? Never in a month of Sundays!

Rosie Scribble

Judging by these comments, Met Mum, the UK seems to be one of the last places to introduce these. I saw an adult and child arguing over one today, that's how popular they are proving here.

This is a great idea, and I agree with you, it would help a hell of a lot in certain issues we face today with obisety..it's a shame though, that I don't think anything like this will be popping up for me as I think it's highly likely to be trashed :( x

Emily (@AMummyToo)

What a novel idea! I'd worry a little about risk of injury if you use equipment like this without being shown how to do so properly, but on the other hand, anything that gets people moving has got to be a good thing.
