I may have perhaps given the impression that most evenings, and every weekend, I am out and about attending events, dining with dignitaries and raising a glass to the opening of yet another envelope.
Why else, then, would Freemans.com be keen to tell me about their evening dress range?
They obviously don’t know about recent attempt at glamour, which involved purple nail varnish, toe nails, a not-unattractive rug and a lot of stain remover.
Even then the nail polish was borrowed from a friend who, judging by the appearance of my poorly varnished finger nails, should have known better.
So a touch of glamour would be nice, but it’s not something that features in my life very often.
That said, I do have an evening dress. It is black and plain and occasionally does make an appearance. It is usually teamed with a different coloured belt on each outing to give the impression I am sporting a whole new outfit.
I bought it for the Mother and Baby Awards last year. But I have to admit to Freemans that I have never once considered buying an evening dress from a catalogue.
However, after making numerous 30-mile round trips to Nottingham, on public transport, and spending a total of eleven hours traipsing around the shops looking for a dress, the idea of ordering on-line now seems a lot more appealing.
Plus there are no shop assistants to tell you your dress looks fabulous when you know really it doesn’t.
In fact the dresses from Freemans look pretty good and even include some designer names. Their range includes cocktail dresses and long evening dresses for a variety of occasions, or you could choose a maxi dress.
Perfect, if I had somewhere to go and was perhaps a little younger and a little taller.
And now I have blogged about evening dresses sod’s law dictates that I won’t have the opportunity to wear one for at least another year.
If I hadn’t mentioned it I’d probably have been invited out to a lavish restaurant this very evening but someone dark and alluring who actually finds chipped finger nails very attractive.
Ho-hum.
This post was created in partnership with Freemans.
But Rosie, if you were to be invited to an occasion befitting one of those dresses you do have the figure to carry it off. Good luck with the invites!
