These two cards share one identical symbol. Can you spot it?
The game is called Dobble and it’s proved a real hit on our house.
This one is a little easier:
The idea is very simple. All the cards have one identical symbol which players have to find. There are 55 cards in total and over 50 symbols ranging from insects to flowers. Only one symbol on each card is identical and players have to find it, name it out loud and then take the card, place it or discard it depending on which version of the game they are playing.
To add variety to the game there are different versions or ‘mini games’ where the rules vary. The player who wins the most mini games is the overall winner.
We’ve become a little addicted to card games in our house and recently tried Ratuki and Jungle Speed.
This game is brilliant. The variety of symbols and the different mini games means that no game is the same. It’s a quick-thinking game where you can’t let your attention drop for a second.
IJ is considerably better than me. I have been known to occasionally let her win at card games but in this case there is no need. I’m not a bad loser but I am secretly getting in a little practise behind her back.
Dobble from Asmodee is for 2-6 players aged 6+ and is priced at £12.99. It comes in a little yellow tin making it easy to carry around and take on holiday.
We were sent the game free of charge to review and highly recommend it.
We love games in our house. I will have to get this one for our holidays.
Have you tried "Acuity"? It's my latest purchase and we're addicted. "Set" is also a firm favourite, you can adapt the rules yourself for younger children and it really improves their visual perception and logic.

I haven't heard of 'Acuity' or 'Set'. I'll go off and have a look for them. Thank you! We're looking for a few more for the holidays especially if the weather is as bad as it is at the moment :(
The benefit of Dobble is that it's small, unlike some games we have which take up half a suitcase!

Susie - you have to look very closely. Now you see why I keep losing this game!

Try happypuzzle.co.uk for Acuity and Set. I've bought loads of great games from there, they always seem to come up with something new and absolutely addictive! Great family owned company with super customer service. (No, this isn't a sponsored comment!)

Thank you very much! Their website looks lovely. I'll take a look around. My daughter's 8th birthday is coming up and I'm running out of ideas.
(Had to laugh at your mention of sponsored comments. One day there probably will be such a thing!)

I can't possibly tell you how long it took me to find the first one...

Met Mum, I know the answer to the first one and it still takes me a long time to spot it!

OMG, for the longest time I couldn't spot the first two. That's ridiculous. Erin would love it!

Erica, I owe you ten minutes of your life back! Erin would definitely like it. You'll see now why I keep losing at this game.

Sounds good! I'm taking the girls to Donegal for a month so game planning is essential! Will add that to my list..

A month? That's a long time. Yes, you'll need plenty of games. Hope the sunshines for you all.

ahhh-okay-different sizes are okay right?
Posted by: susie@newdaynewlesson | June 20, 2011 at 10:40 AM
Yes, you've got it. Different sizes are okay as long as it's the same symbol. Hope you haven't lost too much time to this!!

I took far longer trying to work those out than I should probably admit to.

looks fun - will have to get for my son - might encourage us to play more games as a family instead of him playing on his wretched DSi!!

I don't think you're the only one!

I think a comment just got lost. Was just saying that this is a top seller in the toy shop, and I often recommend it to customers. So simple but a lot of fun for a wide range of ages.
