A huge thank you to everyone who voted for me in the Brilliance in Blogging Awards. I am thrilled, surprised, amazed, gob-smacked and very proud to have won an award in the ‘Make a Difference Blogger’ category for my work in Cameroon with Pampers and UNICEF.
Not unlike those people who stand up at award ceremonies and ramble on a little excessively, I would like to say a few words.
18 months ago I decided to give up blogging. My plan was to log off and hit delete.
I didn’t. One month later I was invited to my first ever bloggers event – a lunch where I listened to Natascha McElhone talk about her recent trip to Angola with the Pampers and UNICEF team.
Moved by what I had heard and feeling privileged to have been invited to hear the talk, I carried on blogging.
Fast forward one year.
Instead of Natascha talking about her overseas trip, it was me standing in front of a group of bloggers at that very same Pampers and UNICEF lunch talking about my trip to Cameroon.
Who would have thought it?
Certainly not me.
I was too nervous to talk at the first bloggers lunch. One year later I stood up and gave a presentation.
That is what blogging has done for me: given me a boost, given me a voice, and given me so much to write about.
So to anyone who gets ‘bloggers wobble’ once in a while and thinks of giving up. Don’t. Blogging may not take you around the world or buy you a house in the country, but it will give you access to a world of opportunities and a fabulous network of people.
So, once again, thank you.
That's so brilliant. Congratulations and good on ya girl!

Food for thought Rosie, as I've been considering deleting my blog for a while.
I think you're simply ace and I always enjoy reading you so keep on keeping on, my friend!

No don't delete it Vonnie! Stick with it a while longer. I'm certain you'd regret it later. At least if you leave your blog there you can take a break and return to it when you're ready. Deleting it is do final and all your hard work will be lost. x
