We have had a fabulous time in London and having been home for all of five hours, IJ is now asking what exciting thing we can do next. After three fun-packed days I was hoping she would enjoy a period of calm reflection and the chance to play with her own things for a while.
But no.
She wants to be entertained, so I have done the only sensible thing in these circumstances.
I have phoned Granny.
So while the two of them are off doing goodness knows what, I can write a blog post get some work done in peace and quiet.
After spending a fabulous day and a night with good friends we have not seen for a while -- where we talked kids, life, blogs and twitter -- we headed into Central London to see the Go!Go!Go! Show courtesy of Mummy Marketing.
Despite the small stage and very basic set, the show was uplifting and full of lively songs and dance routines performed by the five-strong cast all of whom were exceptional. Although a handful of songs were performed to a backing track, they were at their best when they sang live.
Their enthusiasm seemed effortless and IJ loved the fact that, sitting in the third row, they were able to wave to her often. The audience participation was great and even I found myself standing up and joining in the dance moves. Afterwards the cast took the time to meet every single child who wanted to pose with them for photos and say hello, taking the time to ask for names and autograph programmes, which IJ thought was great.
From there we shopped for schools shoes and explored the Science Museum. We also discovered the best way of making sure several people gave up their seat on the tube is to walk around carrying a cute handbag in the shape of a dog.
Sounds like you both had a great time!
Some days I miss it just being me and one lil one, life was so much easier and we could go out and do things like you and IJ. Mind you, now the oldest is at school there's plenty of time for me n the lil one to go for a day out at least! :)

Funny you should say that, Marylin. Yesterday travelling on the London Underground I realised how much harder this would be with more than one child. I suppose it will be easier for you when yours are both a little older. We've only started doing things like this recently :

Thanks very much. My daughter is still talking about it and listening to the tracks on the website. If they produced a CD of the show's songs, we'd certainly buy it. (And chance the show will come to Nottingham one day?)
