Last night, for reasons unknown, I decided it would be a really good idea to put a tent up in our back garden. So, going with the flow, we brought the tent down, laid out all the equipment on the grass and then for a further five minutes I messed about with pegs and poles pretending to know what I was doing.
But I didn't know what I was doing so I promptly gave me, cursing the damn thing under my breath.
Nothing more was said about my poor assembly skills until this morning when IJ pointed out that I had given up too quickly. She said, sounding far wiser than her years, that you should never give up, you should always keep going and try again even if you don't get it right the first time.
Suffice to say, we now have a tent sitting in our back garden.
And I actually feel quite proud of us both. A lesson learnt, certainly for me.

Well done to both of you! I'm tempted to make a joke about you just being too tents... (I'm so sorry, I'll get my coat)
Such wise words from your little one too - she's sounds just amazing :)

Goodness, how society is going to be so much better when IJ is fully integrated into it! She is a gold nugget!

Oh, I'm super impressed you went back out and put it up. I'm a bit shabby at that, I talk a good talk but when it comes down to it I usually think of a good reason to get out of putting the bloody tent up. I too will call on her wise words next time I try and have a skive.

I often think that IJ will end up running the country.
I rest my case.

I felt under slight pressure to go out and put the tent up after being talked to by a six-year-old!!
