Today I was awoken by a slightly over-excited six year old chanting, "Happy Birthday Mummy, you're 67!"
This is wrong for two very important reasons: I am not older than my own mother; IJ has added 30 years to my age. As well as that, the wake-up call came at one o'clock this morning and a broken night's sleep is something I am not able to cope with, at my age.
My brother phoned to say Happy 40th which is does every year. In three years time I won't be able to say, "Ha ha, very funny!"
It is just as well I am not 40 because I'd like to fly to New York on my 40th, and there would have been little chance of that today.
My lovely southern friends sent me cards like this (as they do every year):
And I received some really lovely birthday messages on Twitter which I have to say has made my day. So thanks to @Mummytips, @Cosmicgirlie, @Tara_cain @JfB57, @3bedroom, @RedTedArt, @thatgirl39, @babyrambles, @froginthefield, @PerfHappyMum, @Sardinetin, @swhittle, @debcw, @kerryjeanpower, @LauraAWNTYM, @missleslieanne, @chellekip, @LivingwithKids, @nickie72, @peabee72, @linsay1978, @snafflesmummy, @vegemitevix, @mediocre_mum, @susankmann, @Lottieloves1, @mummymccann,@Cafebebe, @aprike, @CarolineSweetie, @WhimsicalWife, @BubblingTweets, @nonstopmama, @RFTellen, @RFTDeb, @LindaSJones, @Erica, and @vwallop whose #secretpostclub parcel full of lovely stationeryarrived this morning. Do #FF them all!
If you are not on twitter, the above screen names and hash tags will probably make little sense.
Today I have exactly three years to make sure that by the time the big four-zero arrives, I've reached a place in life where I'm not looking back and wondering where the last four decades went. And so far, I'm on track, thankfully.
Please do excuse me, I'm off to eat cake, dine at Frankie and Bennies, eat more cake and then spend the evening with friends watching @DaveGorman on DVD. I may even drink a crate of northern beer little alcoholic beverage. It would be a shame not to.
Enjoy Rosie!
Those years will fly by!

Dear Rosie, I've never been here before but we share the same birthday. Happy Birthday. I had a card today which said
"In order to be irreplaceable - one must always be different"
- Coco Chanel
We also share a birthday with Peter Ustinov and Nick Berry (of former Eastenders fame)

Do my comments ever get to you? Something always seems to go weird.
Posted by: Mwa | April 20, 2010 at 08:22 AM
Ah. Maybe not then.
My original comment (and I mean first, not imaginative) was:
Happy Belated Birthday to you!

Thanks, Mwa! Your comment arrived safe and sound. Sometimes the comments section does seem to play up, I've no idea why. xx
