We are watching Ice Age 3 - Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
IJ is re-enacting several of the scenes, in a very noisy fashion, with some of the plastic dinosaurs she got from McDonald's (I know, ignore the reference to a fast-food restaurant).
It's a great film. We watched it in 3D at the cinema over the summer and we loved it.
Towards the end there is fight between two of the characters, nothing serious, it's all relatively harmless fun.
IJ jumps up from the floor, dinosaur in hand, and almost punches me in the face.
"What on earth are you doing?" I ask her (though not as politely as that, I have to admit).
"I'm covering your eyes." She replies.
"Why are you doing that?"
"They are fighting and there is a little bit of blood. You mustn't watch it. It might give you nightmares."
And very quickly it occurs to me, shouldn't it be me saying that?
Oh we havnt seen this yet. I love how she is protective of you!

Great post... reminds me of the time I asked Daisy to get me a nappy so I could change Poppy. I wasn't looking at her when I asked and when I sensed she wasn't scurrying off in desired manner i looked round at her. She was standing with her hands on her hips, one eyebrow raised, and her head cocked to one side. "What do you say?" she said ina sing song voice.
I smiled sweetly through my clenched teeth. "Please".
To make it worse, she returns with the nappy and as I go to take it from her, she pulls it away and raises that genetically annoying eyebrow again.
"Thank you " I say meekly. I know we're meant to turn into our mums when we get older, but this is ridiculous!

My nearly-two-yr-old took me by the hand yesterday when I said I had a sore tummy and she told me "you go lie down on the sofa now and watch some tv." They can be mummies, too, sometimes.

My kids can be quite protective of me too. It's kind of nice, isn't it?

:) I am like a little frightened rabbit when it comes to watch 'scary stuff' on TV or in the cinema. I bet this is going to be me in a few years time.
