Lost

For a while today I was lost.

A sense of unreality descended.

I felt disconnected.

Out of touch.

Alone.

I had little idea of what was going on in the world around me.

A feeling that felt unfamiliar and unwelcome.

And strangely eerie. 

Not nice at all.

So was it stress, drugs or simply a Friday meltdown?

No, dear reader.

I left the house and forgot my iphone.

And for a very long two hours, the world felt silent.

Due to a lack of modern technology at my fingertips, I scribbled this post on the back of a Morrison’s receipt. In pencil. It felt very 1980s and strangely liberating, on reflection.

Rock Chick

Over recent weeks we've graduated from the pink sparkly princess stage and we’ve now entered the Rock Chick stage, or at least IJ has, so she tells me.

Apparently this stage means embracing all things black and purple and using words like ‘random’ in conversation, rather randomly as it happens. 

It also involves mimicking all things iCarly, which is a new addition to our weekly TV viewing. 

It’s an interesting pre-teenage stage that takes a little getting used to and is guaranteed to leave any parent feeling slightly out of touch, but I quite like it. And it's nice to see a slightly more confident personality emerging in the little girl who previously wouldn't experiment with her hair or clothes.

Together we are amazing

I may have missed something somewhere along the line, but a recent email from BritMums alerted me to a new campaign called Mums Stands Together aimed at encouraging mums to support and respect each other. The email from BritMums arrived in my inbox on my way home from the school run, and I have to admit to feeling a little deflated. I’d logged onto Twitter earlier that afternoon feeling isolated working from at home, and I’d been greeted with a fun and friendly community that gave me a much-needed boost, as Twitter often does.

So it came as a blow to discover there is a need for a campaign to bring mums together and support each other. I’d been completely unaware. 

Style on Sky

I'm probably not the best person in the world to promote the new season of the Style channel on Sky, as I actually watch very little television.

My evenings are largely spent plotting and planning a business venture I’ve been working on for a couple of months, which allows me to grab a few extra hours in my day to compensate for the time spent travelling to and from school. 

It’s not a way of life that would appeal to many, but for me it works perfectly. But when I do relax I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I'm a huge fan of real life celebrity documentaries on Sky Living.

So it's Steps the Reunion, Peter Andre: My Life, What Katie (Price) Did Next, America’s Next Top Model, The UK and Ireland’s Next Top Model. You get the picture.

It's OK! magazine in TV format and probably not something I really should be admitting to online.
