In our house there are some things we are exceptionally good at.
Brilliant, in fact.
I'm certain of this because we're totally rubbish at cooking, crafting and gardening, so somewhere we have to have some exceptionally good talents to balance this out.
Once I've discovered these you'll be the first to know.
In the meantime we've been at it again.
We've been attempting to do something we our garden.
We used to have some mint and basal in our garden too until they succumbed to the same fate.
I’m certain we carry the faulty gardening gene in our family so it’s possible I may have passed this in to IJ.
Yet despite our gardening inabilities, she had fun this weekend digging holes in the soil, in a rather haphazard fashion it has to be said, and planting a few seeds.
Despite a slight lack of care and attention in the planting process at times, chances are these will turn out brilliantly and we'll be setting up our own market stall in no time.
In the meantime IJ insists on watering them like mad.
Special thanks to Innocent drinks who provided us with a selection of seeds and a gardening kit. It’s all in aid of their new campaign to get millions of kids outside planting and harvesting their own gardens.
From March until the end of April, every box of innocent kids’ smoothies and fruit tubes will come with its very own pack of easy to grow seeds. There are six different varieties to collect including carrots, tomatoes, cress, basil, violets and sunflowers – all of which will show little ones how a garden grows.
You can also visit the gang’s greenhouse at Innocent Drinks where children can upload photos of their plant’s progress, learn top gardening tips and be in with the chance to win cool prizes from innocent's friends at Rocket Gardens and the Royal Horticultural Society.
We might not be winning any gardening awards any time soon but we’ve had fun planting, even though IJ was a little disappointed not to find any buried treasure in our garden. I might have encouraged her to get her hands dirty by suggesting there might be.
It was all in a good cause.
