It has been noted, largely by family and close friends, that my baking skills are total rubbish in need of work.
Word had obviously not reached the team at Disney’s Club Penguin who kindly sent me the ingredients to create some Easter Puffle Nests.
I’m using the word Puffles again here, and in the title of this post, and once again here: Puffles, because it might not be immediately obviously that this is what I have attempted to (ahem) create in five easy (unless you have my clumsy fingers) steps:
Roll some 'ready to roll' icing between the palms of your hands to make whatever size puffle you like.
Use a small pair of scissors to lightly snip the top of the Puffle’s head three or four times to make some spiky hair. You can then smooth the snipped spikes with your fingers to make them more defined, although we forgot that bit.
Roll some white 'ready to roll' icing into small balls for the Puffle's eyes. Use the tip of your finger to flatten the eyes and place one eye slightly over the other. Use a little water as glue and attach the eyes to the Puffle’s face.
Let them dry off a little before using some black icing (or an icing pen) to add the pupils.
Attempt to create some sort of happy smiling mouth with black icing or an icing pen.
To make the chocolate nests we threw together some melted cooking chocolate (about 150g) and some Rice Krispies (about 120g) and stirred them together. Simples.
Next week we might stretch ourselves a little further and rise to the challenge of mixing three ingredients together to see what happens. On the other hand …
