If the thought of Christmas has you panicking as to how on Earth you are going to cover the cost. Or if you are wondering if throwing the whole family together on Christmas Day for ‘fun and festivities and the odd board game’ is actually advisable, thankfully there is a little Christmas cheer in the form of Snowflake – a children’s CD produced by The Rainbow Collections.
We don’t have anything like this at home so I was interested to try it out with IJ so see what she thought of it. The CD contains 16 popular Christmas classics including Jingle bells’, ‘Frosty the Snowman’, ‘Deck the halls’, ‘Little Donkey’ and ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’. The songs have been recreated by Sophie Barker – the lead singer of the trip-hop band, Zero 7.
I thought, at seven, IJ might have been a little old for it, and possibly she was, but we did enjoy listening to it. At one point I even caught her swaying. The arrangements are very simple and we preferred the songs that had been jazzed up slightly or where the London Children’s Choir accompanied.
Its simplicity will appeal to many, especially younger children. These are traditional Christmas songs which are very easy to listen to and a nice way of getting into the spirit of Christmas.
