Huge thanks to everyone who commented on my Thoughts of blogging post and also to those who sent wonderfully supportive messages on twitter. While I posted it yesterday with some apprehension, I am so pleased that I did. The support has been incredible and I am extremely grateful. Many many thanks.
As it would take an age to reply to everyone individually, I am replying here instead. The clear message seems to be to ignore the negative side of blogging – because there clearly is one – and carry on.
And I will do just that.
A reminder that blogs are public property is no bad thing. They can be read by absolutely anyone and they do allow complete strangers to follow our lives, if they want to. And the nature of blogging does leave us open to criticism and abuse.
Although online attacks are relatively rare in the grand scheme if things, my concern is they will become more common. As yesterday’s comments showed, I am not the only person who has experienced this. Far from it.
But I’m not going to let it put me off and I hope no-one else is put off either. There is a huge amount of support out there for those that need it and so many positives to writing a blog. That’s what I am going to focus on.
So onwards and upwards, and thank you.
