IJ really enjoyed accompanying me to the Bloggers Lunch in Covent Garden on Monday, although she was very wary of the professional photographer who hovered around for most of the event. He was a really nice, friendly guy but each time he pointed his lens at us, IJ looked at him as if she was going to kill him. One time though he did manage to catch her off guard, much to her intense disapproval.
She took the day in her stride. I know London well having lived in the Surrey communter belt, so we have visited many times. IJ is even a dab hand with an Oyster card, and woe betide anyone who stands on the left-hand side of the escalator on the London Underground.
She did not bat an eyelid when she almost walked straight into two men kissing in Convent Garden. Nor was she at all bothered when a large group of Hare Krishna members marched passed her at Oxford Circus.
But she was keen to know what Natascha McElhone was asking me.
The honest answer to that is: she was asking why IJ wasn't at school. She had an in-service training day.
But in fact the day was an education in itself.
